Do It Yourself – Acai Bowl
As many of you know, I am slightly obsessed with acai bowls. I get such a satisfied feeling and burst of energy after eating one! It is the perfect post workout snack.

Acai bowls that have had sugar added are a definite turn off- super sweet granola, added honey or maple syrup or using sugar added acai just ruins the entire experience. Acai puree, fruit, and a solid granola is all you need.
One of our favorites when we visit NYC is Juice Generation. When I came across this copycat recipe, it looked way less complicated than I thought it would be. I am now happy share this deliciousness with you! The best part? You can mix and match all to infinity and beyond! Use whatever fruit, nut butter or granola you want- that is the beauty of these bowls. Everything used is available at Trader Joe’s so everything is definitely accessible!

Acai base:
Two acai puree packets (make sure there is no sugar added! This brand is just acai and water) May need to run packets under water for a few seconds
¾ cup of almond milk
1 tablespoon of peanut butter
½ frozen banana
Directions: Blend all together until smooth!

Toppings:
¼ cup of hemp granola (game changer granola!)
2 teaspoons of peanut butter
1 tablespoon of cacao nibs
Fruit of choice! (banana and strawberries)
Directions: Assembled to the best of your artist abilities

The first time making this, I was skeptical if it was going to come out anything resembling the Juice Generation bowls. It was super easy to make and once it was all assembled, it looked pretty good (though I may need bigger bowls to hold all of this- bursting over the edge).

First taste and we were blown away- I can’t believe how amazing these turned out!!! I think it is a bit dangerous now that I have discovered this… I will have no control and be making these constantly! Certainly cost savings to make them yourself and honestly is the easiest thing in the world. Pure happiness in a bowl! Enjoy!
LOOKS AWESOME ON MANY LEVELS!
I share your obsession! Acai = thriving 🙌🏻 love that you make them at home, going to have to try that. Great granola recommendation! I’m always on the hunt for a good quality variety. I love that brand but have never seen that flavor. Siked to try it! Thanks!
