Dining Review: Hangar B Eatery – Chatham, MA Cape Cod
Our first stop was outside of downtown at a popular breakfast spot with a unique view. Hangar B Eatery overlooks the Chatham Airport and if you are lucky, you can watch planes take off and land. When we arrived, we were told it was a 45 minute wait and my spidey sense told me it would not be that long so we sat at the downstairs seating area for our wait.

They had a small take out window for freshly made pastries and coffee so Kevin grabbed a coffee along with a potato donut complete with strawberry balsamic jelly to put on top. And this donut was delightful but the jam just sent it over – such a great combination and a welcomed treat. At about twenty minutes we were seated and the view at the outdoor seating was super cool. The fog was really bad this morning or else I wonder if we would have had the opportunity to see some of the planes.

The menu here is impressive but the specials were downright gourmet. We put our orders in and it was clear the kitchen was short staffed for the capacity of the restaurant – hence the long wait to be seated. We were not in a rush so it was not a bother and I had a feeling the breakfast was going to be delicious. As the fog was starting to dissipate, our food arrived:
- Panko crusted eggplant “benedict” with poached eggs, garlic aioli, arugula, and cherry tomatoes.
- Egg and arancini burrito with scrambled eggs, truffle parmesan risotto arancini, roasted tomatoes, arugula, sriracha aioli

I have been such a big fan of eggplant for breakfast recently and this was perfectly executed. The eggplant served as the english muffin of a traditional benedict with the poached eggs on top and the garlic aioli on the side to add at your pleasure. The only complaint I would have is there was one single tomato in the arugula salad and that feels a bit stingy. And Kevin’s burrito was giant and super flavorful. Using arancini as a kind of potato / potato barrel replacement was super creative and worked very well. Both were amazing and if we were local, it is no question this would be a frequented restaurant.

In the downstairs area, there is the opportunity to book a scenic flight. We walked inside and found a large TV with a flight tracker and wow it really highlights how many planes are in the sky all the time – it is incredible how the flight routes are developed.
This was such a fun spot for breakfast and I can only imagine the fun it is when planes are taking off and landing. If you have time on your trip to Chatham, I would definitely recommend stopping at Hangar B Eatery.
