Dining Review: Anh and Chi – Vancouver, Canada

Ever since we had legit amazing Vietnamese food in San Diego, I have been craving it and Vancouver has no shortage of authentic Vietnamese spots. Lucky for us, Anh and Chi was a short walk and open for lunch. They do not take reservations and from what I read, this place can get mobbed so definitely plan around that. We were able to get seats at the bar and were surprised at 1) how much seating there is and 2) how crowded it still was.

The interior was so well designed and definitely inspired our recent bathroom renovation. There was a wood and banana leaf theme going on that we were both loving. We love getting to sit at the bar to have more time with the staff.

Everything on this menu is fantastic and I wish we ate here multiple times on this trip to try more things. Kevin was in love with the cocktails – definitely his favorite of the trip. I could tell if we had more time he was game to try them all.

We ordered the following from the menu – even though we wanted to order way more – it was so hard to make a decision!

  • Gỏi Cuốn – Fresh Saigon Roll with prawn, lettuce, rice vermicelli, Vietnamese herbs, Mẹ’s Artisan Peanut Sauce
  • Bún Thịt Nướng Chả Giò Tôm – Signature Vermicelli Bowl with grilled pork, grilled whole prawn, crispy pork spring rolls, pickled carrots and daikon, rice vermicelli noodles, lettuce, cabbage, Vietnamese herbs, Mẹ’s Chilli Fish Sauce

The food was outstanding. The rolls were so fresh and light. The vermicelli bowl was happiness in a bowl – there was just so much going on from the pork to the prawn, to the noodles, to the crispy rolls (to die for!), and al the fresh veggies and herbs. Goodness I could eat this every single day. I am so glad we each got our own vermicelli bowl so we did not have to share. We loved everything we ordered and I was sad to see the bowl of deliciousness empty.

We cannot recommend Anh and Chi enough! I know if we lived in Vancouver we would be regulars here, no question. I only wish we had more time to explore more of the menu. I am still dreaming of that vermicelli bowl. If you live in Vancouver and have not try Anh and Chi, go go go!
