Visiting Vivid Lights Festival – Sydney Australia

We had seen signs all over the city for it and knew this would be our best opportunity to come see it. For three weeks in the winter season, the city transforms at night into a series of spectacular light displays in various unique presentations. Along with the lights, there are performances and tons of food stalls available. It was pure luck that our visit coincided with some of the nights of the festival and we were excited to explore.

The Circular Quay was completely transformed with dancing lights on the buildings, huge strobe lights illuminated the sky, and special attention to the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. The bridge was outfitted with lights outlining the entire bridge as the lights danced and changed colors choreographed to the music. The Sydney Opera House had projects displayed on each of the panels changing like a kaleidoscope – such a piece of art!

Unfortunately we did not partake in all the food offerings but it featured many traditional festival / carnival items like chips on a stick (spiraled potato on a stick). This is such a great event to awaken the wintertime season and take advantage of the early sunset by illuminating the night sky.

Enjoy the photos from the festival!
