Chianti Classico, Italy

We loved our day visiting Chianti with Tuscan Wine School so much that it was an obvious choice to try another tour on this tripWine Time is a half day tour that takes the group to three vineyards in the Chianti Classico region along with lunch.

We met at the Tuscan Wine School store front where we had an introductory tasting before hopping on the bus.

Our first vineyard was Fattoria Montecchio where we had two Chianti Classico wines (including one Riserva) and a Super Tuscan, along with their fresh olive oil. The wines here were the favorite of the day (primacy effect?) and we got to know many of the other people in our group. The property here was beautiful and filled with gardens and rolling hills filled with vines.

The second stop was Casa Sola where we got a tour of their cellar before our tasting of two Chianti Classico wines, one Reserva, and a Super Tuscan.

The final winery was Casa Emma which sits atop a hill overlooking all the vines- it was so scenic! We first got to try the delicious Sangiovese grapes on the vine that were ready for harvest at the end of the week. Along with the many wine selections, we enjoyed our lavish lunch- first starting with a meat and cheese plate full of pecorino, prosciutto, salami & bruschetta, followed by homemade tagliatelle with a pomodoro (tomato) sauce, topped off the biscotti for dessert.

The group got into the van to our journey back to Florence. While our times at each of the vineyards was quick, it was a jam packed day that allowed us to still have the entire evening in Florence. Thank you Tuscan Wine School for another incredible day in the incredible Tuscany countryside- we cannot recommend this group enough!
