High Lawn Farm – A Must Stop in the Berkshires, Massachusetts

Nothing brings me quite the delightful excitement like a full dairy farm – cheese and ice cream are some of my favorite foods. So when I found High Lawn Farm, there was no question this was a mandatory stop on our trip. But I do not think I was prepared for just how wonderful this place is, so much so, it is getting a dedicated blog post.

High Lawn Farm products can be found all over the Berkshire area so it will be hard to miss even if you do not visit the farm directly but I have to tell you, visiting the farm was one of the highlights of our trip. Since 1923, this farm has been raising Jersey cows to create the best dairy products in the area.

Walking into the Farmstead Creamery is like a dream – you are surrounded by farm fresh products. There are several refrigerators and freezers full of dairy products like milk, butter, and cheese, farm made items like ice cream, sweet and savory pies, and soups, and beef items of all cuts you could want. There were also plenty of products on display like jams, honey, ghee, crackers, and so much more. I immediately wished we had a way to transport all this goodness. In the back, there is a counter where you can get freshly prepared cheese plates with ten cheeses to choose from, grilled cheeses, and ice cream.

After much deliberating, our final order included a cheese plate featuring five of their cheeses and all the cheese plate fixings, a pint of the chocolate chocolate chip ice cream (a much better deal to purchase a pint than to get scoops – then we got to enjoy for the rest of the trip!), and a small chocolate milk (my guilty pleasure I never indulge in). Everything was fantastic! The chocolate milk was exceptional and gone within seconds. It was cold enough outside that the ice cream would survive until we got back to the Airbnb but the depth of chocolate flavor matched the chocolate milk and the chocolate chips were definitely premium chocolate, and the cheese plate was the perfect lunch, all the cheese were excellent. Before we left, we stopped to see those gorgeous Jersey cows, which may be my new favorite animal.

And through writing this post, I just discovered their online ordering portal which I may or may not be shopping at right now (darn, ice cream is farm pick up online). We spent almost an hour here just enjoying all the options and goodies. Everything is of the utmost quality and it really comes through in everything they do. I cannot recommend this stop enough!
