Dining Review: Bohemian Biergarten – Boulder, Colorado
If there is an opportunity for good schnitzel, we like to indulge and Bohemian Biergarten offers just that. We learned from the menu that this was featured on Guy Ferri’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and with the good ratings that led us here, we were looking forward to a German feast.

Set up as an authentic biergarten with long wooden tables and a large bar full of taps, the beer here was plentiful featuring Germans styled brews in half pint or pint pours.
Our group was very hungry so we were eager to dive it. We ordered a bunch of shareable dishes for the table to enjoy and everything was great.
- Polish Pierogies served boiled or fried with spicy pierogi sauce and garnished with mushrooms, onions & garlic
- Haus Deviled Eggs red onion, dill pickle and chive oil, crispy bacon
- Das Pretzel traditional bavarian soft pretzel served with house made mustards
- Austrian Style Spaetzle made with farmer’s cheese and topped with melted gruyere and chives

Note that the perogies were legit spicy so it definitely sent me into a tizzy – who makes spicy perogies?! The rest of the group definitely liked them. The pretzel was fun because there were four house made mustrads that we got to try with it in addition to the cheese sauce provided with the pretzel. My favorite was the spaetzle and I enjoyed every bite I could get.
Very happy with the appetizer round, we moved on to the entrees which looked like it would be hard to go wrong with any of the options. At our table, we ordered the following:
- German Style Potato Pancake crispy pork belly, spiced apple butter, and green onion
- Pork Schnitzel served with lemon & capers and herbed potato salad with choice of cucumber or beet salad
- Jager Schnitzel – pork schnitzel served with creamy mushroom sauce, red cabbage and choice of gruyere cheese fries or spaetzle
- Kielbasa traditional polish smoked beef & pork served with sauerkraut, fries, and pretzel bread

Kevin and I shared the Jager Schnitzel and my goodness it was fantastic. The mushroom sauce was so incredible. The pork was a good potion and perfectly fried. Since we had spaetzle with the appetizer round, we subbed in a salad which was much needed. We tried a bit of the other dishes around the table and can comment that the pork belly on the potato pancake was outstanding and the kielbasa was super tasty. Clearly you can’t go wrong with any of the dishes.
I would definitely recommend stopping into Bohemian Biergarten on your Boulder visit. It is a fun spot that has tons of beers on tap and great food.
